Obituary of Ronda Rae Rudy
Ronda Rae Rudy (76) longtime Harrison, ID resident passed away on July 18, 2019 at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Coeur d’ Alene. She was born to Eugene and Thelma Nichols on July 30, 1942 in Escondido, CA. Ronda grew up in Ontario, CA and graduated from Chaffey High School with the class of 1960. Ronda met Chet Rudy on a blind date, and the couple married on August 1960 in Ontario.
Chet and Ronda started a family right away. They bought a home in Upland, CA. Ronda went to work as an office clerk at a tv manufacturing facility. The family then moved to Northern, CA and Ronda stayed home with her children. To supplement her income, she babysat a little girl named Angie. Chet and Ronda then relocated to Vacaville, CA where they built a home in the country. Ronda went to work for and accounting and tax preparation firm. Chet’s job was booming in Vacaville and life at the time was crazy, so the couple visited Angie’s family in Harrison, ID. Right away the couple decided to relocate to Harrison, and bought a house on their vacation. In 1977 they moved from California to Harrison, making Harrison their permanent forever home. Ronda ran a craft store in downtown Harrison. She also worked as a Chapter 1 Aid for the St. Maries School District, and held this position for 10 years. The school district had to lay her off, so she obtained her CDL and went long haul truck driving with Chet. The couple drove for over 10 years before retiring in 2000.
Ronda loved her children and grandchildren. Ronda was a very active person and enjoyed her crafts and gardening. She loved Harrison and its beauty, and enjoyed spending time on the lake in a boat or skiing. Ronda also enjoyed getting together with the Women’s Visionary of her Church. She was a member of the Harrison Baptist church for many years.
Ronda is survived by her husband Chet at their home in Harrison; daughter Lisa (Christopher) Green of Fairfield, CA; son Kevin Rudy of Rathdrum, ID; sister Penny (Kenny) Mayosky of Spokane, WA; brother Carl (Yvette) Nichols of Blaine, WA; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
