Obituary of Billy Lee Leitz
Billy Lee Leitz (73) Resident of Plummer, ID died April 12, 2013 at Coeur d' Alene, ID. He was born on Christmas Day in 1939 to William and Hazel (Waters) Leitz at Plummer, ID. Bill grew up in several areas of Southern Idaho. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1957. He was stationed at U.S. Naval Air Station, Kingsville, TX. He was honorably discharged in 1963 and made his home in Southern Idaho. Bill worked for area farmers and for a bean growers warehouse in Jerome, ID. He married Maxine M. Janson on June 12, 1963 at Wallace, ID They made their home between Jerome and Wendell, ID He continued to work in agriculture hauling hay for farmers and working at a cattle feed lot with his step-dad Clarence McCartney. He and Maxine moved to Plummer in 1970. Bill worked at saw mills in Tensed and Plummer. He worked for the city crew for the City of Plummer before going to work for the Idaho Dept. of Transportation at the Plummer shed. He became a foreman for the Dept. before he retired in 1997. Bill enjoyed fishing, fishing and fishing. His other enjoyments include camping, hunting, huckleberry picking and growing his garden. He also enjoyed panning for gold. He is survived by his wife Maxine at the family home in Plummer. He is also survived by daughter's Shelley Leitz-Fleener and husband Tim of Plummer, ID, Sherry Leitz of Mullan, ID, Kristy Huber and husband Mike of Worley, ID and Kathy Leitz of Plummer. Also surviving are his brother Terry Hamon of Coeur d' Alene, ID and 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Also surviving are 3 nieces and one nephew. The family suggests memorials to Auburn Crest Hospice 1596 W. Seltice Way , Post Falls, ID 83854. A potluck dinner to honor Bill will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Plummer American Legion Hall.
