I have so many found memories of my “Aunt” Luana. My mom would give my dad a ride to work very morning. Back in those days it wasn’t such a big deal to leave your young child sleeping while you ran an errand. So I’d generally wake alone. Search the house for mom, to no avail. I would then head out the door to Lou’s. Now this wasn’t far just out my front door to her back door not more than a 100ft. There I would find Lou making Lisa breakfast so I would join them. She would make me eat wheat bread. I had never had wheat bread before and thought my world was ending. Funny thing is I liked it. Especially with the cinnamon/sugar that she would sprinkle on it. Yummy! I remember this one morning in particular after breakfast she sent me home to brush my teeth. Well me being smarter than the average bear pretended to brush my teeth. Thinking I pulled it off I made my way back to Lou’s. She asked me if I had brushed my teeth, I swore up and down that I had. That’s about time she marched my 6 year old butt back to our house to check out the “dry” toothbrush in the stand. Lookin into those eyes I nearly died right there. Brush my teeth I did! Lol
Since that time Lou has always been my go to friend. She has always been there for me. We would talk away the time. Whenever I’ve been in turmoil I’d run to Lou. Needed advice again call Lou. Just wanting to hear her voice, call Lou. She had some of best lines I’d ever heard. This is my favorite: I can’t’ look at your ass and read your mail. Cracks me up every time I think it, I hear her voice. I miss her already! I was blessed to have her in my life. God Bless you Luana! I Love You! Melanie.
