Obituary of Bill Anderson
William "Bill" Anderson (62) longtime resident of St. Maries, ID died October 15, 2013 at Gee Creek rest stop near Vancouver, WA. Following an apparent heart attack. Bill was born February 3, 1951 to Darrell and Grace (Wing) Anderson at Memphis, TN. He grew up in Coeur d' Alene, ID and graduated from Coeur d' Alene High School with the class of 1969. Following graduation, Bill attended North Idaho Jr. College for 1 year. He then went to work for the U.S. Forest Service. He married Carol Hietala on May 28, 1970 at Coeur d' Alene. In 1974, Bill moved to Burley, Id and went to work for the U.S. Soil and Conservation Dept. He transferred to Emmett, ID two years later. In 1977, Bill transferred with the U.S. Forest Service to St. Maries and worked as an Engineer out of Avery and St. Maries where he was involved in road construction and maintenance . He retired in 2006. Bill enjoyed working for KOFE radio both in sales and as a sports broadcaster. He was the sports commentator for all St. Maries Athletic events as well as District and State Tournaments. Bill served as an umpire for Softball and Baseball games throughout North Idaho. He enjoyed coaching little league and American Legion Baseball teams. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping as well as working around his home. His favorite pastime was spending time with his family and grandchildren. Bill is survived by his wife Carol at the family home. Son and daughter-in-law Joshua and Liesa Anderson of St. Maries and son Nicholas Anderson of Moscow, ID. His daughters and sons-in-law Patricia and Dennis Ashley of Oroville, CA and Sandra and Dale Smith of St. Maries, ID. Bill is also survived by his sisters Dawn (Bob) Webster of Bonnersferry, ID and Kathleen (Chris) Hughes of Oldtown, ID and sister-in-law Dena Anderson of St. Maries. Six grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brother Michael in 2004. An informal Potluck Celebration of his life will be Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the family home at 2170 Hells Gulch Road..
