I met Phil when Plank broadcasting started radio station KXGO in Arcata. He became a friend of mine that was always there with a friendly joke or words of encouragement, he seemed to know which I needed at the time. I will miss you my friend. May your signal be strong with clear reception.

I knew Phil after he moved to St. Maries. He was a witty and keen man. He reached out to me and was always friendly and interesting to talk to. I liked stopping by the station when he was there, always had one more story for me. I will miss him. I am sorry for his family's loss, I'm sure he meant a lot to each of you.

Phil inspired a group of kids with his love of broadcasting early on at York Tech in Yorktown, VA. We aired football games and school board meetings on the 21,000 watt FM station he helped build. He carried the remote gear in the trunk of his Chevy II and gladly lugged it up to the play box. His sense of community values started early, and caught on with the rest of us. I was blessed to know him. Thanks, Phil, RIP. - John Heimerl, Suffolk, VA.
