Larry was the first born grandchild of Edith and OB Nelson. I was the fourth grandchild.
Larry's Dad, Ray Nelson and my Dad, Ed Nelson were the best of brothers. They loved to get together in St. Maries and see what mischief they could stir up. Larry was a lot like his Dad, only quieter. Larry was always around in my life in my younger years. He would be quietly watching his sister and I playing with a sweet smile on his face. I carried about half a crush on him.
In later years, Larry was especially kind to his Grandparents. He worked out of the area a good deal, but would always stop to see them at Christmas. Grandma would say, " That Larry! He had a half a beef delivered to us for Christmas." Some times it would be half a pork. He was thoughtful and generous. He would stop and see them in Coeur d' Alene when he could. He was also very kind to his step-mother after his Dad passed away. He kept a place for Margie to live and watched after her.
Larry was truly a quiet, Gentle Giant of a man. May this Son of North Idaho rest in peace, and may his best memories be carried forward by his family.

One of the best looking guys in all of St. Maries.....for a long, long, LONG time! I always thought your Mom and him looked like Ken and Barbie! I love you Nancy Jean, and my thoughts are with you and your family during these sad days.

Thanks for sharing, Chip. I think a lot of kids got an education about electric fences thanks to Mom's horses! That property, including the busy truck shop, was the perfect place to grow up. I'm glad others appreciated it too!

Larry was a mentor of mine growing up on Capital Hill. Larry and Jerry Lee would let me ride with
Corky during the summer months to fulfill my dream of being a Log Hauler. I have many memories of riding my mini-enduro up by their shop. Watching all the truck drivers work in their trucks, petting Jerry Lee's horses. Babysitting David and Nancy while Larry & Jerry Lee enjoyed the night out. I will always remember testing out their Electric fence, making Larry mad by constantly riding my mini-enduro around his shop for hours on end. Rest in Peace Larry. I will never forget you. You did make a difference while you were here. Chip Ryle
