Obituary of Rose Mary Reidhaar

Rose Mary Reidhaar (85) longtime St. Maries, ID resident, died Nov. 19, 2014 at her home following a 6 month battle with cancer. She was born February 25, 1929 to Allison and Verna (Hembree) Norton Sr. at Galena, Missouri. Rose Mary grew up between Missouri and Idaho. She graduated from St. Maries High School with the Class of 1946. Following graduation, she married Jack Reidhaar on Sept. 29, 1946 at St. Maries. Rose Mary began raising her family in St. Maries where she volunteered as a 4-H leader, Cub and Boy Scout leader as well as a Campfire Leader. She went to work as a bank teller for Idaho First National Bank before going to work as the officer manager for Gunther's Cedar Mill. In the 1970's, Rose Mary went to work for Chase Chevrolet as their book keeper. Rose Mary left Chase Chevrolet to go to work for the Idaho Dept. of Lands as a receptionist and dispatcher. Her husband died in 1980. In 1989, she moved to Lewiston, ID where she volunteered as a cook for the Senior Meal Site. She worked there two years and returned to St. Maries in 2003. Rose Mary volunteered at the Hughes House and for the Benewah County Fair where she registered people's flowers for judging. This is something she enjoyed very much and did it this last August. Rose Mary was an avid reader of historical material. She collected carousel horses. Rose Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Steve and Sally Reidhaar and daughters and sons-in-law Cathy and Mike Johnson and Barbara and Dave Porter all of Boise, ID. Her brother and sister-in-law Howard and Ardys Norton of Spokane, WA. also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Allison Norton Jr. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Hodge Funeral Home, St. Maries with Rev. Dan Swan officiating. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the St. Maries Senior Meal Site on Jefferson Ave. Rose Mary will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries at a later date.
