Obituary of Kathleen E. Barden

Kathleen E. Barden (58) lifetime resident of St. Maries, died suddenly Aug. 11, 2011 from a massive heart attack suffered at her home. Kathy was born July 12, 1953 to Pat and Evelyn (Sibert) Conley at St. Maries. She grew up in St. Maries. During her years in school, she worked as a nurse's aide at what is now Valley Vista Care Center. She was graduated from St. Maries High School in 1971. Following her graduation, she worked at the St. Maries Complex of Potlatch Corp. In 1980 Kathy married Bill Barden at St. Maries. She worked at McLaughlin's Excell Foods and as a bartender for the St. Maries Elks Lodge. She went to work for Super Foods which is now Harvest Foods approximately 18 years ago. She was employed there at the time of her death. A longtime cashier, Kathy will be remembered for her jovial greeting to customers as they walked through the door; she knew the regulars by name and had often threw a hardy "how are ya" to visitors. Kathy also was a caregiver for both of her parents in their later years in life. She enjoyed growing flowers and mowing her yard, which she took pride in. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren, Jada and Jaysen, as well as baking, especially bread. She loved her 1974 V.W. Beetle which she drove to work daily. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Kathy is survived by her husband Bill at the family home. Son and daughter-in-law B.J. And Tracy Barden and her daughter Nicole Barden all of St. Maries. Also surviving are her brothers Jack and wife Leslie of Moscow, ID and Tim and wife Emily Conley of Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Also surviving are her sister Lynn Parkison of Post Falls, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Maries Church of the Nazarene Gymnasium with Deacon Floyd Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Maries. A gathering of family and friends will follow services at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge. Pallbearers were B.J.
