Obituary of Frank W. Thatcher
Frank W. Thatcher (75) resident of St. Maries, died Nov. 19, 2011 at St. Maries, ID. He was born January 18, 1936 to Michael and Freda (Crawford) Thatcher at Douglas, WY. Frank moved to St. Maries when he was 11 years old. He graduated from St. Maries High School with the class of 1954. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was stationed in Korea, Guam and Okinawa . He was honorably discharged in 1957. Frank had several marriages and was currently divorced. He returned to Wyoming in 1962. He owned his own ranch where he raised and broke horses. He was a tour guide and outfitter for seasonal hunters who came to the Teton Mountain Range, next to Yellowstone National Park. Frank received a disabling injury while breaking a horse which caused his early retirement in 2005. He lived in Sandpoint, ID before returning to St. Maries earlier this year.. Frank was an avid hunter and fisherman. He trained teams of horses for motion pictures and worked with the Budweiser Clydesdales. Frank is survived by his brothers and wives Mike and Faye Thatcher, Bob Thatcher and Nancy Arias all of St. Maries and George and Sandi Thatcher of Union, OR. He is also survived by sisters and their husbands Susan and Dink Roop of Cocolalla, ID and Becky and Jim Borgmann of Spokane Valley, WA. As well as sister Bonnie Thatcher of Bonny Lake, WA and numerous nieces and nephews. Services for Frank will be held at a date to be announced in the Spring of 2012.
