I got to work with Wayne in the early to mid 80's on the Fernwood section crew for SMRR. Wayne held up many a shovel while I shoveled ballast. You could not help but love the guy. He had some of the greatest one-liners I've had the pleasure of hearing. He was always good for a laugh each and every day either with his stories,,one-liners or just being Wayne. I've thought of him many times over the years that I've been away from the area. RIP Wayne.

I will never forget the days growing up together, we could not have had more fun in all the adventures we tried. Poor Ben got tied to a tree while Mon called us for lunch. Climbing over the electric fence, convincing Ben he could make it. It was electrifying! Watching your sisters go bonkers when we held the chickens while your dad cut the heads and they ran till they dropped. Getting into the dry ice rail car hauling them in your wagan, then into Pine Creek. Putting torpedoes on the rails. It goes on and on and so shall the memory of you and your wonderful family. May God bless you and I know he will welcome you with open arms. For all of us that were apart of your life THANK YOU. Gary.

You will forever be in our heart, you were our adopted dad, an awesome customer and above all one of our dearest friends. There will be an emptiness in our community for you were so full of life and lived it your way. You also ended it the way you wanted keeping your dignity. "I will always love you sweetie" will always remind me of you. I am sorry you bucked off without one last hug, but you must have felt you needed to drag up.
