Our forest are curently burning here in Virginia which sent my mind back to St.Marie Idaho in 1994 with the Va 15 Firefighting crew. My guides while there were a man and his smiling son Paul and Doug Cook, we were there less than a month but I remember the young lad always smiling. The good Lord knows what he's a doing although we may find sadness in his decissions we still must accept them and plan on seeing Doug's smile again someday. To the family I say you are in my prayers and I am sorry to learn of your loss.

İm very sorry for your loss. I didn't know Doug personally, I only lived in St maries for a short time. however my exwife is from St maries and so are most of my friends. Every single person I've heard talk about Doug had tge same things to say. That he was an amazing man, and the greatest friend. When I asked who he was, they responded with wonderful stories of their past with him. As I said, I did not know him personally, but truley wish I had. This world needs men like him, and it's sad and tragic that he is no longer here. I just wanted you to hear from someone tgat didn't even know him, and was still effected in some positive way by his legacy. My prayers go out to his whole family, I'm truley sorry for your loss. As a young boy growing up in Fernwood Dougie would zip by my house on his motorcycle almost daily in the nicer weather. As the days went on and I grew tired of the noise I would run outside to douse him with a spray from my water hose.Got him real good the 1st time but he continued to zip by,all the while flashing his great big grin at me,and slowing a bit for the refreshing spray from me.Everytime I heard him coming I would rush out and be ready to get him! It became a cat and mouse game,my anger turned to joy as i would do this just to see his big smile every day. Ride wildly Dougie,your homies will miss your kindness

It saddens my heart that Doug's smile will no longer be visible here in St. Maries. From cruising around with him and Doug Phillips and surviving Doug's crazy need for speed, to hanging out in the woods partying, I will hold onto the fun memories spent with Doug. He was a genuinely kind, funny, and great guy. Prayers will be sent daily for Doug's family, especially Cassie and Dezmen as they heal from this unforeseen loss. Say hi to Kenneth and Riley for me.
