Obituary of Douglas Richard Cook
Douglas Richard Cook (32) passed away from injuries due to a logging accident on June 11, 2015 near Clarkia, ID. Doug was born to Paul Cook and Katrina Koski on November 16, 1982 in Coeur d’ Alene, ID. He grew up in the St. Maries and Fernwood area spending most of his time in Fernwood. He graduated from St. Maries High School in 2001. Following graduation he went to work for Scott & Sons Logging. Doug had several jobs over the last 13 years spending a majority of his career in logging. Including Scott & Sons Logging, he worked for St. Maries Logging, Young Living Herb Farm, KLM Nursery, Danielson Logging, and Pine Creek Logging.
In Doug’s younger years growing up, he loved to race motorcycles and had raced in events at Greyhound Park, Spokane, and X-Mas Hills. In the fall of 2008 he started dating Cassie Newton. They loved spending time together taking many adventures on their snow cat visiting the mountaintops around Fernwood. They enjoyed mudding in his big blue Toyota out in the woods. Doug and Cassie took a trip to Seattle to watch Supercross and had the time of their lives with a group of friends. They also spent some time visiting Fairmont Hot Springs in Montana. Doug also enjoyed camping, 4-wheeling, hunting, horn hunting, and dirt bike riding.
Doug was a spectacular cook and he often mentioned his secret ingredient was to put onions in everything; however he never ate them as a child. He loved his dog Torq who was a Chiweenie. Doug was blessed on May 25, 2015 when he and Cassie’s son Dezmen Cook was born. Everyone loved Doug and he had a huge passion and love for life. He will always be remembered for his laugh and smile.
Doug is survived by his parents, the loves of his life Cassie and Dezmen at the family home, sisters Melissa Cook of Coeur d’ Alene, ID and Jennifer Cook of Post Falls, ID, and brother Steven Cook of Coeur d’ Alene, ID. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
