Obituary of David John Hult

David J. Hult (82) resident of Valleyford, WA, died August 30, 2015 at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. He was born Sept. 28, 1932 to Lyle “Red” and Nancy (Stratton) Hult at Ferrell, ID. He spent his younger years in St. Joe City and grew up in St. Maries attending Lincoln, Heyburn, and St. Maries High School (where he was the high school boxing team manager) graduating with the class of 1950. At the age of 17 he went to work in the woods for Stub Moe and later Jack Dittman. David then attended the Univ. of Idaho for 1 year. Following college he served in the U.S. Army from January 12, 1953 to January 12, 1955. Following his discharge, he returned to St. Maries and went to work in the woods. In 1960 David went to work in construction. Two years later he went to work as a service technician oiling heavy equipment throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. He later began working the gold fields of Montana and Nevada driving the 50 and 100 ton dump trucks retiring in 1992. David married Sarah Palmer on July 16, 1962 in Butte, MT. They made their home in St. Maries. They lived in Post Falls from 1967 to 1975 when they moved to Valleyford, WA. David’s wife died in last year. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, and traveling. David is survived by his step-son and daughter-in-law James “Andy” and Melvina Palmer of Post Falls, ID and step-daughter Sharon Arnold of Dalton, GA. His brother and sister in-law Kenneth and Barbara Hult of Post Falls, ID, 7 Step-grandchildren and 10 step-great grandchildren and 4 step-great great grandchildren. A visitation is scheduled for Friday, September 4, 2015 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. Funeral Services will be Friday, September 4, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Hodge Funeral Home, St. Maries, ID. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, St. Maries, ID. Military Honors rendered by Idaho National Guard Honor Guard and St. Maries American Legion Post 25.
