Obituary of William Michael Mix

William Michael Mix (31) resident of DeSmet, ID died September 12, 2012 at Great Falls, MT. He was born May 7, 1981 to William and Melody (Denny) Mix at Spokane, WA. He grew in San Jose, CA and graduated from High School there at Silver Creek High School with the class of 1999. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve while in high school. After high school, he continued his enlistment until he was honorably discharged in 2000. Following completion of his military service, he served a two year mission with the L.D.S. Church in Louisiana He completed his mission in 2004 and moved to Salt Lake City, UT. Will spent the next decade working in the security field doing jobs such as personal protection, executive protection/executive escort, armed and unarmed security, and most recently Will worked for a non-profit agency providing in-house security where he worked closely with the Salt Lake City Police Dept. to rid the area of dangerous drug dealers who preyed on Salt Lake City's homeless population. While employed there, he also served on the Salt Lake County's 2010 Census Committee , and the Salt Lake Homeless Youth Outreach Taskforce. While working for this agency, Will was awarded the Citizen of the Month Award in December of 2008 by the Salt Lake City Chief of Police for saving a man from would-be-murderer who had been stabbed. He had planned to study homeopathic medicine. Will never married. Will moved to DeSmet in June of 2011. He had moved to Great Falls, MT in August. Will enjoyed hunting, fishing, making jewelry and being out doors. He was a master archer and enjoyed shooting his bow. He is survived by brothers Matthew C. Denny of Los Angeles, CA and Andrew J. Mix of San Jose, CA. Also surviving are aunts Louise Carrillo of DeSmet, Juanita Lachasse of Hollywood, Ca, Evelyn Drake of Plummer, ID and Bernadette Barrientos of Palmdale, CA. Will was preceded in death by both his parents and one Aunt and one Uncle. A family viewing was Sunday, Sept.16, at 7:00 p.m. And prayer Service and Wake on Monday, Sept. 17th at 7:00 p.m. With Funeral Service on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012 all at the Evangeline Abraham Longhouse, DeSmet, ID with Caj Matheson officiating. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Mission Cemetery, DeSmet, ID A gathering of family and friends will follow back at the Longhouse.
