Obituary of Stirley Wayne Cochran
Stirley Wayne Cochran (70) loving husband, dad, and papa passed away at his home in St. Maries with family by his side on May 28, 2017. He was born to Glen and Opal Cochran in Curryville, MO on January 6, 1947. The family moved many times throughout Stirley’s childhood, and he graduated high school in McKinnleyville, CA with the class of 1965.
Following high school, Stirley enlisted in the Army. He attended boot camp in Fort Bliss, TX and traveled as far as Germany. He was discharged in 1972 as a Decorated Special Forces Green Beret. Also in 1972, he married the love of his life and best friend Patricia in Eureka, CA. They raised three daughters, Lori, Cori, and Tami. He went to work as a millwright at Stimpson Timber Company in Korbel, CA for 17 years. In 1989, the family relocated to St. Maries, ID where he went to work at Regulus Stud Mills, Inc. and Emerald Creek Garnet Mill where he retired.
Stirley was active in the local American Legion Post 25 and Special Forces Chapter 25 where he had many friends and brothers. Stirley was a patriotic man who had a passion for the military. He enjoyed working in his wood shop, spending time outside, but mostly spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Stirley is survived by his wife Patricia at the family home; daughters Lori (Mikey) Minier of St. Maries, ID, Cori Cochran of St. Maries, ID, and Tami (Mitche) Graf of Aurora, OR. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Tyler Stoltz, Dakotah Heath, Jaycee Graf, Colton Graf, and Sierra Graf; numerous family members including nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers Bobby Cochran and Gary Cochran.
A Memorial Graveside service with military honors is planned for August 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery.
