For many years after I left St. Maries, I could not recall the name of the gunsmith who relined the barrel of my Marlin Model 1892 rifle, in the obsolete caliber of .32 Long Colt. This evening it just suddenly popped in my head, and I searched for Harvey on the internet.
I am saddened to hear of his passing three years ago. He was a magnificent gunsmith. He also smoothed the action on a Smith & Wesson .22 revolver I have. It remains the envy of everyone who tries it, It's smoother than oiled ice. Harvey was a good man, and his depth of firearms knowledge was amazing.
His work ethic and craftsmanship lives on in my rifle and pistol. Rest in peace, Harvey.
