Obituary of Thomas R. Freeburg
Thomas Reed Freeburg (83) longtime resident of Plummer, ID passed away on July 9, 2017 at his home near Plummer.
Tom was born in Bloomfield, NE to Ivan and Ione (Kingsley) Freeburg on September 8, 1933. When he was three years old, the family moved to the “Stump Ranch” in Sanders, ID. They lived on a self-sustaining farm. Tom attended school at Sacred Heart Mission in DeSmet and the Tensed Elementary School. He then attended High School in Plummer, ID and graduated from Plummer High School with the class of 1951. While in High School, he met the love of his life, Sandra Storms. They went together for three years before they were married in June of 1952. They made their home in the Plummer area where they raised their children.
Throughout Tom’s lifetime, he worked for various farmers in the area. He also worked for the Plummer-Gateway Highway District for over 14 years. In 1966 Tom started his own farm and farmed until he retired in 2005. In his retirement, Tom continued to harvest hay and take care of animals.
Tom is survived by his wife Sandra of 65 years at the family home, his daughters Sue Millhorn of Plummer, ID and Molly (Kevin) Griffin of Sammamish,WA; son Mike (Paulina) Freeburg of Plummer, ID; 8 grandchildren – Stephanie (Barry) Sather, Carmen (Traig) Weishaar, Seth (Katie) Millhorn, Amy (Jay) Bedsole, Tim (Sarah) Freeburg, Austin Griffin, Cassie Griffin, Tyler Griffin; 12 great grandchildren Sydney Sather, Jackson Sather, Tori Weishaar, Pilot Weishaar, Barratt Moland, Chandler Moland, Grant Millhorn, Abel Millhorn, Carter Bedsole, Julianne Bedsole, Alexio Freeburg, Angelo Freeburg, sister Beverly Melusky of Olympia, Wa, and his very good family friend Luis Guzman. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bill Freeburg.
A visitation will be held at Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries, ID on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A Graveside service will be Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at Evergreen Cemetery in Plummer, ID. A gathering for family and friends to share a meal will follow at the Plummer Bible Church. The family suggests memorials be sent to the Gateway Fire Ambulance - PO Box 328 - Plummer, ID 83851.
