Obituary of David G. Kendall
David G. Kendall (75) resident of St. Maries, ID died July 11, 2017 at his home near St. Maries. He was born March 26, 1942 to Harry and Harriet (Ator) Kendall at Elma, WA.
Dave grew up logging with his father and brother all over the Northwest. When he was 14 years old, the family moved to Beaver Creek, Idaho. They lived there for a few years. Dave graduated from High School in 1960. He moved to Spokane and went to work for the Manito Golf Club as a grounds keeper. He married Karen Hall on March 20, 1971 in Spokane. Dave worked at the Manito Golf Club for 15 years before moving to St. Maries in 1977. He became the superintendent and grounds keeper of the St. Maries Golf Course. Dave retired from that position in 2004. His wife died in 2014. Dave enjoyed woodworking and working on antique cars. In 2016, Dave was honored by having his name placed on the Ed Krieg Memorial Wall at the St. Maries Golf Course. This honors members who have gone above and beyond for the betterment of the golf course.
Dave is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law David and Heather Kendall, Johnny and Annie Shaw all of Spokane, WA and Richard and Laurie Shaw of CO. Daughter and son in law Judy and Bill Anderson and daughter Kimberley Kendall all of St. Maries. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and sister.
The family suggests memorials to the St. Maries Humane Society c/o Hopes Haven 53 Robinson Lane, St Maries, ID. A graveside service will be held Friday July 14, 2017 at 11:00 am at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries, ID. A gathering of family and friends will follow at the St. Maries Golf Course.
