Obituary of Arthur J. Lounsbury
Arthur J. Lounsbury (82) longtime resident of St. Maries, ID passed away on September 15, 2017. He was born to Raymond and Emma Lounsbury on November 2, 1934 in St. Maries, ID. Art grew up in St. Maries, but finished his high school years in Bremerton, WA graduating with the class of 1954. He enlisted in the US Army and served 6 years. Of those 6 years served, he served 3 years in Germany. While stationed in Germany he met Heide Meyer and the couple married in 1957.
Art and Heide started their family and relocated back to St. Maries, ID. Art went to work in one of the local sawmills. He also worked at Economy Hardware, a cedar mill, and was a Postal Carrier for the US Postal Service retiring after 16 years of service. Art enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed the outdoors as he liked to hunt and fish.
Art is survived by his wife Heide at the family home; sons Dirk (Sharon) Lounsbury of St. Maries, ID and Roger Lounsbury of Scottsdale, AZ; brothers Herman Lounsbury of St. Maries, ID, Steve Lounsbury of Clarkston, WA, and Owen Lounsbury of St. Maries, ID; sisters Rose Klatt of Glendale, AZ, Anna Fay of Glendale, AZ, Emily Griswold of Moses Lake, WA, Joyce Cook of Juliaetta, ID, and Cora Pike of St. Petersburg, FL. Also surviving are grandsons Cameron (Ashley) Lounsbury of Plummer, ID and Jared Lounsbury of Scottsdale, AZ; granddaughter Dyhlan Lounsbury of Scottsdale, AZ; and great-granddaughter Lexie Lounsbury of Plummer, ID. He is preceded in death by his parents and his son Heiko “Joe” Lounsbury.
