Obituary of Charlie J. Lee

Charles J. "Charlie" Lee (77) long time St. Maries area resident, died November 20, 2012 at his home following a 2 year battle with Cancer. He was born November 30, 1934 to William and Juanita (Perkins) Lee at Madras, Or. He grew up at Lone Pine, OR. Charlie graduated from Crook County High School at Prineville, OR. with the class of 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1957 and returned to Oregon...Charlie married Shirley Harms on April 6, 1957 at Redmond, OR and from that day on the 2 never spent many days apart. They lived in various areas of Oregon before moving to St. Maries in 1968. He went to work for the St. Maries Complex of Potlatch Corp. And started his career working in the dryers. He was promoted to the Glue Mixing Dept. Where he mixed the glue for the plywood. He retired from Potlatch after 29 years in 1997. In 1998 he and Shirley moved to their property on State Hwy. 3 So. where they developed and logged the property for their home placement. Charlie enjoyed plating trees, working in their garden, and feeding what seems to be 100's of wild birds. Charlie enjoyed playing golf in the summers (his favorite time of year) and bowling in the winters. He served on the St. Maries Volunteer Fire Dept for 13 years as well as the Potlatch Corp. Fire Dept. He was a former member of the St. Maries Eagles Lodge. Charlies is survived by his wife Shirley at the family home. Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law Carl and Wendy Lee of St. Maries and daughter Tammie Lee of Honolulu, HI and daughter and son-in-law Cindy and Kurt Landkammer of Clarkston, WA. He is also survived by grandchildren Grant and Kelsi Lee and Austin and Brandon Landkammer. Also surviving are brothers Lawrence Lee of St. Maries and Kenneth Lee of Klamath Falls, OR, as well as sisters Betty Nyberg of Salem, OR, Letha Michaels of San Diego, CA and Effie Flora of Donald, OR. He was preceded in death by both is parents brother Hank Lee and sister Doris Case. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the Summer of 2013 at a date and time to be announced.
