Obituary of Tressie Marie Outland
Tressie Marie Outland (87) resident of St. Maries, ID passed away peacefully at her home on November 12, 2018. She was born to Wesley and Alma Armitage on a farm in Melrose, NM on July 27, 1931. Tressie’s family moved to Los Angeles, CA during WWII. She graduated from high school with honors earning a scholarship to UCLA. Tressie graduated from college with a Master’s Degree in Education.
Tressie was an Educator and held positions as a Physical Education Teacher, Counselor, Vice-Principal, Director of Voc. Education, and was a Superintendent. After 35 years in Education, she retired. In 2008 she moved to Idaho to be with her granddaughter and family.
Living with her granddaughter and her family, Tressie enjoyed all their friends’ children and family get togethers. She really loved reading her books, playing with her great grandchildren, camping, and watching her great grandson race dirt bikes. Christmas was her favorite holiday and purple was her color of choice. She enjoyed collecting lady bugs and Precious Moments figurines. Tressie enjoyed her sweets, and she was always beautifully put together. She was a lovely woman who enjoyed meeting and visiting with people. She didn’t know a stranger, and anyone who ever met her loved visiting with her and hearing her stories.
Tressie is survived by her son Eric Outland of Adelanto, CA; sister Helen Williams of St. George, UT, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 1 niece and 2 nephews. Tressie’s family would like one last party for her to share sweet treats and memories together. A celebration of her life will be December 8, 2018 at 4:00 pm at the Eagles Lodge.
